Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba Alfredo Nieves Portuondo has visited the State Committee

On 21 May 2021, a meeting was held between Mrs. Bahar Muradova, the Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, and Mr. Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Welcoming the guest, the Chairperson of the State Committee Mrs. Muradova thanked for the initiative of the meeting. Noting that relations between Azerbaijan and Cuba have historically been based on friendship and mutual understanding, Muradova stressed the importance of the development of bilateral relations, including intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary relations, adding that the meeting will contribute to enhancing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome, Ambassador Alfredo Nieves Portuondo congratulated the Chairperson of the Committee on her new appointment on behalf of himself and the  Federation of Cuban Women.

The Ambassador stressed that one of the most important moments between the two countries was the sending of two medical teams to Azerbaijan during the pandemic. He noted that the Cuban doctors, together with the Azerbaijani doctors, did their best to treat patients suffering from the pandemic.

The parties also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest stressed the importance of further extending relations with the Federation of Cuban Women and emphasized the importance of further developing cooperation between the two countries in the field of family, women and children.
