Bahar Muradova: "Our historical traditions allow Azerbaijani youth, especially enables women and girls, to improve themselves in education and science"

An event organized by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the Ministry of Education was held on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the Girls' School.

The purpose of the event "Girls' School - 120" is to continue the historical charitable traditions of Azerbaijan and to support young people, especially girls, to benefit from modern educational opportunities in the development of our state. It should be noted that the event coincides with October 11 - International Girls' Day.

The event, which used to take place in the hall where the school was opened, was attended by representatives of the private sector, as well as historians, government agencies and civil society.

The event began with the opening of a museum in the room where the first day of school was held. After getting acquainted with the exhibits displayed in the museum, the guests expressed their impressions of the book.

Opening the event, Chairperson of the State Committee Bahar Muradova greeted the participants and congratulated everyone on the 120th anniversary of the Girls 'School, October 11 - International Girls' Day. It was noted that the jubilee event of the school, which was opened on October 7, 1901 and was attended by more than 50 girls, was held on Girls' Day.

The Chairperson of the Committee noted that H.Z. Tagiyev's efforts were not in vain, that Azerbaijani women were educated and joined public and political activities, opened exhibitions and published magazines. She said that they created charitable organizations and then joined the process of building an independent state in Azerbaijan.

Information was provided on women's participation in public policy, measures taken to protect their rights and ensure gender equality, and the attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva in this area. They expressed confidence that this activity will be successfully continued in our liberated lands at a time when the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is being ensured, and not only government agencies, but also the private sector and civil society will take an active part in this field.

In his speech, Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev noted that the Girls' School is a great educational event not only in Azerbaijan, but in the entire history of the Muslim East, and gave impetus to the involvement of our girls in secular education. We should talk about our present and future on the anniversary of this event, the minister said that the arrival of the first Muslim girl to this school 120 years ago was perceived by the society as a difficult and unthinkable idea.

Speaking about the proud moments, it was noted that the opportunities created by the state in attracting girls to education, as well as the education system and the legal point of view, there are no difficulties. Touching upon the existing problems in the field of women's participation in education, as well as career choice, Emin Amrullayev stressed that the work done in this direction will yield results in the near future.

Academician Teymur Karimli, director of the Institute of Manuscripts, which hosted the event, noted that the Girl's School, which led to the establishment of such a school, laid the foundation for girls' education in Azerbaijan and contributed to our education reaching this level.

The transfer of this building to the Institute of Manuscripts, as well as the transformation of the Manuscripts Fund into the Institute is connected with the name of Heydar Aliyev, the academician said that the conditions of the Institute were improved due to the care and attention of President Ilham Aliyev. At present, more than 12,000 of the more than 40,000 exhibits kept at the Institute are manuscripts in Arabic, Persian and Turkish.

During the event, Farhad Jabbarov, Executive Director of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, researcher Fuad Akhundov, Doctor of Historical Sciences Latifa Aliyeva spoke about the formation of the idea of ​​the Girls' School, the history of the school and its important role in the development of our society.
